Band Toning Tube

Author: Any recommendations on tube amp. modifications for high gain.?
My boyfriend plays guitar and would like to improve his tone to impress auditions for bands.
1.If he is using regular 12ax7’s there is some made for high gain.
2.EMG-81 will help.
3.get a tube screamer pedal. 
4.If you have a rack and not a combo just change you preamp to a peavey rockmaster(alot of hiss tho) or a mesaboogie triaxis.
5. try the Podxt. alot of bells and whistles. I run the /xtlive straight to the board and couldn’t be happier.
